Photography long reads: Nov 2020
Welcome to the November 2020 edition of just four interesting photography links that Emma has curated this month.
The National Portrait Gallery’s “Hold Still” exhibition
“Hold Still is an ambitious community project to create a unique collective portrait of the UK during lockdown. We invited people of all ages to submit a photographic portrait, taken in a six-week period during May and June. The final 100 present a unique and highly personal record of this extraordinary period in our history.” - NPG
The first women of photography
The Royal Photographic Society have published their recent Photo Oxford lecture for all to view. It’s a fascinating deep-dive into the pioneering women in photography throughout the 1800s.
The Perimeter
Follow photographer Quintin Lake as he walks around the coast of Britain, photographing as he goes. This five-year project finished in September 2020 and I particularly enjoyed the range of photographs in the collection: landscape, street, documentary, seascapes, wildlife and portraits all make an appearance.
Photography Online
If you find YouTube overwhelming subscribe to this channel. The videos are very well produced and – unlike many YouTube videos – edited to delete the waffle. (I’m not paid or sponsored. I only share things I like. They don’t even know I’m linking.)
