Privacy & advertising policies

Sponsored posts

I do no sponsored posts and take no advertising payments. I pay full price for all my kit. Anything that I review that I have not paid for will be clearly labelled, and will be returned to the manufacturer after the review.

Affiliate links

The only affliate links I use are those to Amazon which link to my own books, and certain recommended camera kit. The pages that contain affiliate links are clearly labelled at the top of the page. You do not need to use my links. To circumvent the affilate links, just search directly in Amazon for the relevant product.

Data Protection: personal information storage and usage

When you sign up to receive my emails you are giving me consent to send you those emails, therefore the lawful basis under the GDPR for me processing your data is that you have given clear consent for me to process your personal data for a specific purpose, ie. to send you the emails you have asked for. I will only use your email address to send you the email course you have signed up for, or to notify you about the paid course you have joined.

I use LeadPages to collect your email address, and ActiveCampaign/MailChimp to store it.

If you've registered for my online course, A Year With My Camera, or any other email series that I offer from time to time (like Make 30 Photos), your email address is stored with one or both of my email distribution providers, MailChimp and ActiveCampaign. I will not sell or share your email address, and I will only send you the emails you have signed up for. My email distribution providers may transfer your data to their sub-processors who perform some critical services, such as helping MailChimp and ActiveCampaign prevent abuse and providing support to their customers.

If you've registered for one of my paid online courses, then your personal details are stored with my course providers, Thinkific and Teachable. I do not hold a copy of your data, although I can email you from within the course provider's site. Your personal details will be stored by my payment processors (Stripe or Paypal) and by my tax reporting service (Quaderno). If you order a physical product direct from me your address is stored on my eCommerce store with Squarespace.
